Edwards Leads Kent State Past Men's Basketball

Kent, OH (Sports Network) - John Edwards scored a game-high 18 points and collected 10 rebounds while leading the Kent State Golden Flashes to an 86-65 victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Mid-American Conference clash.
DeAndre Haynes tallied 11 points and dished out six assists for Kent State (19-3, 13-1 MAC), which won its ninth straight game. Jason Edwin netted 10 points, pulled down 10 boards and distributed five assists, while Scott Cutley contributed 10 points in the victory.
Marvin Black scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Marshall (9-13, 6-8), which had its two-game winning streak snapped. A.W. Hamilton added 15 points, while LaVar Carter chipped in 10 points in the losing effort.
The Golden Flashes made 6-of-11 shots from behind the arc in the opening frame and used a 14-5 run early in the half to take a 45-33 lead into the break.
Kent State connected on 12-of-16 shots from the foul line in the second stanza and used a 13-0 run midway through the half en route to the lopsided 21-point victory.
The Golden Flashes shot 49.3 percent from the floor in the contest, while holding Marshall to just a 34.5 percent shooting effort.
