HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University head baseball coach Jeff Waggoner announced today that former University of Cincinnati student-athletes Adam Yeager, a Huntington native, and Steve Blevins have transferred to Marshall following their sophomore campaigns and will suit up for the Thundering Herd in 2008.

Yeager, a 5-foot-11 shortstop, started 109 of Cincinnati's 114 games over the last two seasons and led the team in walks (39) and stolen bases (24) in 2007, which stood as the third and sixth best totals in the Big East, respectively. A left-handed hitter, Yeager owns a .291 career batting average and collected 16 multi-hit games in 2007.

"Adam Yeager's left-handed bat, plus the fact that he is a hometown kid, makes him a huge addition to our team," Waggoner said. "He adds depth to our infield and his speed will allow us to do some more things from an offensive standpoint."

Blevins, a Louisa, Ky., native, is a 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher that garnered second team All-Big East and Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American laurels in 2006 after tying for the conference lead with nine wins. As a sophomore in 2007, Blevins started a team-high 14 games and was second in wins (5), ERA (4.81) and strikeouts (64).

"Steve Blevins is a proven winner that will anchor our staff going into our Conference USA schedule," Waggoner said. "Steve is a workhorse on the mound. He has competed and won on a high level and he will give us stability in our rotation."

The duo, which will be eligible to compete as juniors, will join several Thundering Herd newcomers in 2008 as Waggoner enters his second season at Marshall.
