Baseball Embarks On Final MAC Road Trip

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Marshall University baseball team is preparing for their final Mid-American Conference road series of the season at Ball State.

The Herd (22-26, 5-12 MAC) has won three of its last four games, including a doubleheader sweep at Akron last weekend. Adam Frederick (Franklin, PA), this week's MAC East Player of the Week, is 11 of his last 16, including a 4-4 performance against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday.

Ball State (25-21, 13-8 MAC) is also on a hot streak, winning five of their last six contests. They are second in the west division. Their top hitter is Brad Miller with a .380 average, good for sixth in the conference. Their pitching has also been strong. Their team ERA of 4.29 is second overall in the MAC. This weekend will mark the final MAC series of the season for Ball State.

The Cardinals are undefeated against the Herd. The last time the two teams met in 2000, BSU defeated the Herd, 17-14, to improve their all-time record to 6-0 over Marshall.

After this weekend's series, the Herd will play at Eastern Kentucky next Wednesday at 3 p.m. before coming back to Huntington for the final series of the season against Buffalo. Buffalo is currently sixth in the MAC east and will take on Central Michigan this weekend. The first game of the Ball State series is scheduled to start Friday at 3 p.m.. The games on Saturday and Sunday will start at 1 p.m.
