Women's Tennis Wraps Up Play at Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Marquette women's tennis wrapped up play at the Wolverine Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday. Sophomores Maggie Wilson, Kylie Moore and Elly Strother came away victorious on final day of competition. In additional matches in the blue singles draw, Wilson took down Whitney Reys of Purdue, 6-0, 7-5. Strother and Moore took down Western Michigan sisters Amanda and Ashley Moccia, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7) and 7-5, 6-1, respectively. In the maize draw, the Golden Eagles weren't as lucky as their teammates in the blue draw as freshmen Christina Ruiz and Rachael Hush, and senior Shannon Brown each fell to their respective counterparts. The duo of Moore and Wilson was the only doubles tandem to earn a victory as they defeated Western Michigan's Yuka Kobayashi and Amanda Moccia, 8-6. Senior pair Maria Calbeto and Brown fell to Michigan's Lindsey Howard and Kari Wig, 8-2. Marquette returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 18, when the Golden Eagles begin competition at the ITA Regional Championships.
