Women's Tennis Completes Day One of Milwaukee Tennis Classic

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2006-07 season at the 31st Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic hosted by the Western Racquet Club in Elm Grove, Wis., Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles were defeated, 3-0, by No. 27 William and Mary in doubles action, before falling 5-1 to No. 29 Texas A&M in a singles match. Freshman Kylie Moore was the lone victor on the day for MU, defeating Texas A&M's Elze Potgiethar, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 2 singles position. "I thought we played well today," said head coach Jody Bronson. "It was good to see our team stay tough and excited throughout the matches." MU returns to the court tomorrow to face William and Mary in singles action at 11 a.m. before concluding day-two against Wisconsin at 1 p.m. in doubles play.
