Brought on in the summer of 2006 by head coach Jody Bronson, Heather Nobler enters her second season as assistant coach for the women's tennis team this season, eager to bring her experience and expertise to the Golden Eagles team. "Heather was a very good doubles player and doubles is a unique skill that not all tennis players have," said Bronson. "You can teach doubles, but for a lot of players, it's not a natural thing. I think that her expertise in doubles and what she experienced at the University of Oklahoma and in the NCAA Tournament is going to be a big plus for us. I think her leadership, values and what she expects fit right in to this program." Nobler played both No. 1 - No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles throughout her career, and was selected twice to the Big 12 All-Conference First Team. As a junior, she reached the NCAA Doubles Championship round of 16 after setting a school record of 24 doubles wins in a season. Nobler had a career singles record of 66-46 and doubles record of 81-41. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Nobler is a graduate from the University of Oklahoma where she received a degree in Human Relations and a coaching minor. She is also certified through the United States Professional Tennis Association and has taught at many camps and clinics throughout Iowa and Oklahoma. The former Heather Sulari was married to Michael Nobler in September. The couple resides in Milwaukee. |
