The Marquette women's soccer team held its annual end-of-the-season banquet Sunday to recognize and honor the careers of its six graduating seniors. Nearly 100 administrators, family, friends and supporters of the Marquette women's soccer team were in attendance at Marquette's Union Sports Annex to celebrate.

Head coach Markus Roeders, associate head coach Frank Palaez, assistant coach Dano Holcomb along with members of the team paid tribute to athletic trainer Dave Leigh for his commitment to the program for over 13 years. Leigh had been the team's lone athletic trainer since the program's inception in 1993. The Golden Eagles also honored long time Director of Athletics, Bill Cords for his support of the women's soccer program. Cords retired in 2006 after 20 years as Marquette's Athletics Director.

The 2006 senior class of Ashley Baird, Meghan Connelly, Brittney Lewis, Alison Loughrin, Michelle Pitzl and Lauren Weber helped the Golden Eagles soar to unprecedented heights during their careers. As new members of the BIG EAST Conference - arguably the nation's toughest conference - MU showed it was a force to be reckoned with by earning berths in the conference tournament semifinals consecutive seasons in 2005-06. Most notably, the Golden Eagles made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2005 and 2006. During its magical run in the NCAA Tournament in 2005, Marquette advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in program history. All six seniors will graduate in May 2007.
