MILWAUKEE - The No. 11 Marquette women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 5 Notre Dame in the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Championship tonight at Valley Fields. With the loss, the Golden Eagles drop to 17-3-2 overall.

The Fighting Irish (18-2) got on the scoreboard in the 32nd minute in the first half, as Katie Thorlakson connected on a left-to-right diagonal, that hit off the right post. Jen Buczkowski registered the assist.

In the second half, at the 59:55 mark, Buczkowski found the back of the net off an Annie Schefter corner kick. Kerri Hanks tallied the third goal of the match at the 69:26 mark, assisted by Schefter and Candace Chapman.

"We're disappointed tonight, obviously, as we were looking forward to this weekend's great opportunity." said head coach Markus Roeders. "Defensively, despite the score, I thought we played well. It was a tough, physical game, both teams played hard on both sides of the ball. I think we put our all out there."

Notre Dame advances to face No. 15 Connecticut in Sunday's championship match, set for 11 a.m. at Valley Fields.

Roeders added, "We look forward to having an opportunity to continue playing this season in the NCAA Tournament. It's been one of our goals all season long."

The Golden Eagles will host an NCAA Tournament Selection Show party at the Annex on Monday afternoon, beginning at 3:30 p.m. All Marquette fans are invited to join Roeders and his team - free food and drinks will be provided.
