PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort & Conference Center honored Marquette junior Mike Van Sickle for making regional history with his amateur record breaking lowest Round of golf played on Tom's Run Golf Course.

Van Sickle set a state record when he carded a score of 60 (12 under par) while playing in Dick's Sporting Goods Tri-State Amateur Championship Tournament on Tom's Run Golf Course at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort & Conference Center. Prior to Van Sickle's amazing round of golf, the lowest round ever played in Tri-State PGA amateur history was held by William Miller of Venetia, Pa., who scored a 62 (8 under par).

Van Sickle also set a new course record for Tom's Run Golf Course, a 4 1/2 star course located at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort & Conference Center.

"Van Sickle is one to watch. While we are honoring Mike for his record breaking, we are honored to have him be part of Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort's history. He has certainly left his mark on Tom's Run Golf Course at Chestnut Ridge. Tom's Run has been referred to as `a treasure of test and scenery,' so we have a good feeling no one will be breaking this course record for quite a while," said Jim Usher of Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort & Conference Center.

"Tom's Run Golf Course has supported my growth as an amateur golfer. This record breaking will be one of many memories I have of golfing at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort," commented Mike Van Sickle.

Van Sickle has won three collegiate tournaments through two seasons at Marquette. He was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection in 2007 and earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades. He is the recipient of the 2006-07 Frank Fuhrer III Award, for the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association's (WPGA) outstanding collegiate player.
