MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's and women's track & field teams will compete in the 28th annual BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 4-6, at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex in Storrs, Conn. It will be the second outdoor championship as part of the conference for the Golden Eagles, who finished 10th in the men's competition last season, scoring 32 points, and 11th in the women's with 31 points.

Twenty-four student-athletes are set to compete on the men's side in 14 events, and 19 will participate for the women in 13 events.

The heptathlon and decathlon are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. EDT, Friday, and will continue throughout the day. Saturday, the decathlon will continue and field events will begin at 9 a.m. Running events start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, field events will resume at 9 a.m., as will running events, at 11 a.m.

All 16 teams in the BIG EAST conference will compete in the meet on the women's side. Thirteen of the 16 teams (St. John's, West Virginia and DePaul field only women's programs) will compete on the men's side.

The top two teams overall and top six individuals in each event, along with the most outstanding track and most outstanding field performer, will receive awards. The top three place finishers in each event will be named to the BIG EAST All-Conference Team.
