MILWAUKEE - With less than a month to go before the BIG EAST Indoor Championship, the Marquette men's & women's track & field teams travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Open, looking to add to the list of 16 student-athletes already qualified for the conference meet. The two-day meet begins, Friday, at 3 p.m. on the 300m track at the Lied Recreational Center.

"We felt good about last weekend when we competed in our first meet since Christmas," said head coach David Uhrich. "This weekend we are looking to step it up a bit, now having a meet under our belt and a week of practice. This is a very nice 300m track so it is going to be a little easier to run faster times."

Both the men's and women's squads claimed team titles last weekend at the Carthage College DI Invitational. The teams also combined for 12 first-place finishes as three individuals qualified for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships that will be held, Feb. 17-18, in Akron, Ohio.

"Each week our schedule gets a little stronger," added Uhrich. "This one will give us some good competition where we will have a chance to win some events."
