FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore Michaela Courtney finished ninth in the first of two qualifying heats of the mile run at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship. The race was held at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

Courtney, who clocked a school-record 4:43.07 in order to earn a spot in the championship field, crossed the line in 4:54.26 at nationals. She did not advance to Saturday's final. Northern Arizona's Johanna Nilsson captured the heat in a time of 4:40.11.
