Volleyball Falls at Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maine concluded its non-conference schedule on Sunday with a 3-0 loss at Northeastern in Boston, Mass. The Black Bears lost by scores of 25-30, 22-30 and 22-30. Maine fell to 2-11 overall, but is getting ready for the America East schedule which begins Friday night in Memorial Gym versus New Hampshire. The match will mark the first home contest for Maine this season.

Versus Northeastern, senior co-captain and setter Shelly Seipp (Spokane, Wash.) led Maine with 32 assists and nine digs. Sophomores Lindsay Allman (Fenton, Mo.) and Jessica Wolfenden (Ottawa, Ontario) each tallied 12 kills for the Black Bears. Allman and classmate Amy Lawson (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho) each posted two blocks in the contest.

Maine opens conference play on Friday night when it plays host to UNH at Memorial Gym at 7 p.m. The Black Bears swept the Wildcats in both regular season matches last year on their way to the No. 3 seed in the America East tournament. Maine will also be home next Sunday when it faces Hartford at 1 p.m. Admission is free to all home matches at Memorial Gym.
