Track Competes At New England Championships
May 12, 2007 HANOVER, N.H. - The University of Maine men's and women's track and field teams completed in the New England Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at Dartmouth College. The men were 15th overall with 17.75 points and the women finished 21st overall with 12.5 points. Maine's top scorers were Miles Bartlett and Jeff Ramos, both with second place finishes. The women, Hana Pelletier (Belgrade, Maine) ended her remarkable career at the University of Maine with a fourth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.20. Senior Erin Hatch (Saco, Maine) jumped 1.62 meters in the high jump for a sixth place finish. In the triple jump, freshman Tess Perry (Farmington, Maine) was fifth with a distance of 11.13 meters. The Black Bears' 4x400 relay was eighth overall in 3:59.71. For the men, freshman Miles Bartlett (Casco, Maine) crossed the finish line in second place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:12.60. Freshman Jeff Ramos (Turner, Maine) tied for second in the high jump by clearing 1.96 meters. In his final race as a Black Bear, Kirby Davis (Falmouth, Maine) was sixth overall in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:59.69. In the javelin, freshman Toby Poirer (Lewiston, Maine) was eighth with a throw of 57.26 meters. The women's New England Championship was won by Williams with 108 points. Boston College was second at 103 points and Dartmouth was third at 98.5 points. The men's New England Championship was won by Rhode Island with 155.5 points, followed by Dartmouth with 111.75 points and Williams with 54 points.
