![]() Black Bears Track Runs Past Holy Cross

Orono, Maine - The University of Maine men's track team picked up a 105-72 win over Holy Cross and the women's team defeated Holy Cross 98-80 in a dual meet held at the Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. The men were dominate, winning all but two individual events on the day, while the women were led by three individual wins by Silvia Scaldaferri. In the women's meet, Silvia Scaldaferri (West Vancouver, British Columbia) took first place in the 60 yard dash in 7.43, followed by a win in the 200 meters in 26.12. In the 400 meters, Lindsay Burlock (Caribou, Maine) crossed the line first with a time of 58.89. Hana Pelletier (Belgrade, Maine) led the Black Bears in the mile run at 5:10.41, while Teig Choroszy (Saco, Maine) was first in the 800 meters in 2:24.35. Pelletier also took first place in the 1000 meters in 3:04.05. In the 60 yard hurdles, Kathryn Souviney (East Vassalboro, Maine) set a new school record with a time of 8.35. In the field events, Erin Hatch (Saco, Maine) was first in the high jump, Stephanie McCusker (Lisbon, Maine) was first in the triple jump, and Scaldaferri was first in the long jump. Micralyn Wiechman (Buxton, Maine) was first in the shot put with a throw of 12.12 meters and Clarissa Michalak (Cumberland, Maine) won the weight throw at 13.29 meters. For the men, Sydney Harrison (Phippsburg,Maine) won the 60 yard dash with a time of 6.57, while Eric Libby (Hampden, Maine) was first in the 500 meters in 1:06.82. In the mile Michael Lansing (Lovell, Maine) took first place in 4:17.41, with Scott O'Connor finishing first in the 800 meters at 1:57.10. In the 1000 meters, Donald Drake (Portland, Maine) finished first in 2:27.74. Maine took the top four places in the 3000 meters, led by Lansing in 8:42.05. Nathan Holmes (Westbrook, Maine) was first in the 60 yard hurdles, and the Black Bear 4x880 relay finished first. In the field events, Christopher Warren (Woburn, Mass.) cleared 1.88 meters to win the high jump and Troy Irvine (Waterville, Maine) went 4.27 meters to take first place in the pole vault. Jesse Ludwig (South Portland, Maine) won both the long jump (6.37 meters) and the triple jump (12.64 meters). Keith Corey (Scarborough, Maine) had a throw of 13.25 meters for first in the shot put and Anthony Morgan (South Berwich, Maine) went 16.58 in the weight throw for first place.
