![]() Track Competes At GBTC Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maine men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Gordon Indoor Track at Harvard University. While there were no team scores, the Black Bears had numerous top-five finishes, including a first place by Laura Brustolon. In the women's meet, Jolene Belanger (Glenburn, Maine) was third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.06. Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.) led the way in the mile, taking first place in 5:29.42. Kendra Gould (Old Town, Maine) was seventh in the long jump with a distance of 4.80 meters and also was ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.20 meters. In the pole vault, Allyson Thomas (Auburn, Maine) was second by clearing in 3.10 meters. Maine had three of the top eight finishers in the shot put, led by Micralyn Wiechman (Buxton, Maine) with a distance of 11.76 meters. Mary McDonaugh (Waban, Mass.) was sixth in 10.80 meters and Sarah Hodgins (Brewer, Maine) was seventh in 8.81 meters. Maine also was strong in the weight throw, as Micralyn Wiechman was second in 15.37 meters and Clarissa Michalak (Cumberland, Maine) was third in 14.72 meters. In the 4x200 relay, the Black Bears were sixth overall. For the men, David Englehutt (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) finished second in the 3000 meters in 8:47.41. In the 800 meters, Daniel Voner (Dresden, Maine) was fourth in 1:59.22. In the mile, David Manz (Underhill, Vt.) was seventh in 4:28.22 and Brendan Carr (Brewer, Maine) was eleventh in 4:32.86. Christopher Warren (Woburn, Mass.) was fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.68. In the finals of the 60 meters, Andrew Horner (Kennebunk, Maine) was fifth in 7.17 and Andrew King (Hanau) was sixth in 7.20. Andrew Horner added a third place finish in the long jump at 6.08 meters. In the men's shot put, Joshua Mimmovich (Portland, Maine) was ninth with a throw of 10.51 meters. In the high jump, Toby Poirier (Lewiston, Maine) was fourth by jumping 1.83 meters. The Black Bears 4x200 relay was second overall.
