Field Hockey Garners Several Awards from America East

BOSTON, Mass. -- University of Maine senior forward Amy Zdrojesky (East Greenville, Pa.) was named to the America East First Team at the annual America East banquet held on Thursday night in Boston. Kristen Healy (Turner, Maine) and Erin Reusch (Salem, N.H.) each earned a spot on the America East Second Team, while Brittney Cummings (Belfast, Maine), Máire Dineen (Toronto, Ontario) and Courtney Veinotte (Canaan, Maine) were all named to the All-Rookie Team. In addition, Zdrojesky, Reusch and Healy were all named to the America East All-Academic Team. It is the second straight year that Zdrojesky has been named to the America East First Team. She led Maine in scoring with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Zdrojesky had a pair of game-winning goals on the season. Healy received All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. A defender, she added a pair of assists on the season. Healy played in 74 straight games in her career, not missing a single game the past four years. Reusch also earned All-Conference honors for the first time this season. She saw action in all 16 games for the Black Bears and scored two goals and added three assists for seven points, both career-highs. She had a team-high two defensive saves on the season. Cummings, a midfielder, saw action in 15 games for the Black Bears, earning eight starts. She added an assist in Maine's game against Dartmouth. Dineen, a defender, started all 16 games for the Black Bears her rookie season. She scored the game-winning goal in Maine's victory over Northwestern.
Veinotte, a midfielder, led all rookies in scoring. She saw action in all 16 games for the Black Bears, starting 14. She finished tied for second on the team with three goals and added one assist for seven points. Her seven points ranked tied for fourth on the team in scoring.
