Maine is led by the senior duo of Bracey Barker and Ashley Underwood. Underwood ranks third in America East in scoring at 15.2 points per game and is just two points shy of moving into the top 10 in school history for career points. She currently stands at 1,174 points in her career. Barker is the only player in America East to rank among the top five in scoring (4th, 15.1), rebounding (3rd, 6.8) and blocked shots (3rd, 1.43) in the conference standings.

Maine and Vermont will be meeting for the 70th time in the series' history and for the third time this season. The Black Bears lead the all-time series by a count of 46-23, but the Catamounts have won four straight including both of this season's matchups (71-57 on Jan. 14 in Burlington; and 80-74 on Feb. 13 in Orono). Maine and Vermont rank first and second, respectively, in America East history for most conference tournament titles. The Black Bears are first with seven, while the Catamounts follow with four.

GAME STORYLINES

**The sixth-seeded Maine Black Bears open the 2007 America East Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday at 2 p.m., when they face No. 3-seed Vermont. The Catamounts won both of the regular season contests over Maine this season. The Black Bears are 2-1 in neutral site games this season and 1-0 all-time versus Vermont in neutral site affairs.

**Maine held leads late in both of the contests, but could not hang onto the advantages.

**Maine concluded the 2006-07 regular season with a 13-14 overall record and a 7-9 mark in America East play, which was good for a tie for fourth-place. The Black Bears were picked to finish seventh in the conference standings according to the league's preseason poll voted on by the nine head coaches. Vermont finished third in America East with an 18-11 record and an 8-8 mark in league action.

**Maine and Vermont rank first and second in America East history for most conference tournament titles. The Black Bears are first with seven, while the Catamounts follow in second with four. Maine's most recent tournament title was in 2004, while Vermont's was in 2000.

**Maine is 6-3 all-time against Vermont in the conference tournament and 6-2 all-time against No. 3 seeds. The Black Bears have never entered the America East Tournament as a No. 6 seed.

**A win would move Maine into the semifinals of the America East Tournament for the first time since 2004, when it eventually went on to win the championship.

**Maine head coach Ann McInerney is one of just three head coaches in America East to have a .500 record or better in the conference tournament. The Black Bears went 1-1 under McInerney in her first trip to the tournament last season. Boston University's Kelly Greenberg (.714) and Hartford's Jennifer Rizzotti (.714) are the other two coaches on that list.

**Bracey Barker scored in double-figures in all 16 America East games this season and 18-straight conference regular season games dating back to last season. If you include the two games in last season's America East Tournament, Barker has scored in double-figures in 20-straight games versus conference foes.
