Men's Track and Field Falls to New Hampshire

ORONO, Maine-- The University of Maine men's track and field team fell to New Hampshire 95-71 on Saturday afternoon at the Memorial Field House in Orono, Maine. It was the first indoor meet of the season for the Black Bears. Rookie Thomas Williams (Brunswick, Maine) won the long jump with a leap of 6.38 meters and also took top honors in the triple jump with a distance of 12.55 meters. Mark Liimakka (Old Town, Maine) won the men's pole vault with a height of 14-06 and was third in the long jump with a distance of 5.92 meters. Jeff Ramos (Turner, Maine) won the high jump at 2.00 meters. Max Ludwig (South Portland, Maine) took top honors in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.87. Skip Edwards (Portland, Maine) was first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.82. Miles Bartlett (Casco, Maine) was first in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:31.31. Kurt Thibeault (Lewiston, Maine) was second in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:08.93, narrowly beating out teammate Matthew Holman (Gardiner, Maine) who finished third with a time of 1:08.96. Andrew King (Hanau, Germany) was second in the 55-meter dash in 6.73, while Dan Voner (Dresden, Maine) was second in the 800-meter run in 1:58.63. The Black Bears return to action on January 19 when they travel to the University of Sherbrooke. -U-M-
