![]() Track Splits Meet With New Hampshire

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's and women's track and field teams split a meet against New Hampshire on Tuesday afternoon at the Beckett Family Track Complex at Alfond Stadium. In the only home meet of the season for the Black Bears, the women picked up a 97-81 win over the Wildcats and the men were defeated 100-74. For the women, the Black Bears had two multiple event winners. Silvia Scaldaferri (Vancouver, British Columbia) was first in the long jump at 5.36 meters and first in the 200 meters in 26.81. Micralyn Wiechman (Buxton, Maine) took first in the shot put with a throw of 12.15 meters and won the discus with a throw of 38.66 meters. In the triple jump, Stephanie McCusker (Lisbon, Maine) took first with a jump of 10.57 meters. Erin Hatch (Saco, Maine) cleared 1.55 meters to win the high jump. In the 1500 meters, Heather Jovanelli (Brewer, Maine) won with a time of 4:52.71, while Lindsay Burlock (Caribou, Maine) was first in the 400 meters in 1:00.76. Hana Pelletier (Belgrade, Maine) took first place with a time of 2:18.37 in the 800 meters as the Black Bears had the top four times. Maine also won the 4x400 meter relay in 4:13.30. On the men's side of the meet, Christopher Warren (Woburn, Mass.) was the only multiple event winner. Warren won the high jump by clearing 1.78 meters and won the 110 meter hurdles in 15.50. In the triple jump, Jesse Ludwig (South Portland, Maine) went 12.97 meters for the win. Donald Drake (Portland, Maine) won the 800 meters in 1:54.66. In the 1500 meters, Andy Caron (Topsham, Maine) was first in 4:01.36 as the Black Bears had the top four finishers in the event.
