Black Bear Swimmers Defeated By Boston College

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The University of Maine men's and women's swimming and diving teams were defeated in a two-day meet at Boston College, with the women falling 181-144 and the men dropping the meet 184-136. Megan Wolters won three events for the women, while Mike Goede won an event for the men.

For the women, Brittany Harrington (Alexandria, Va.) won the 1650 free in a time of 18:07.77, won the 500 free in 5:18.18, and was second in the 400 IM at 4:43.63. In the 200 IM, Tal Shpaizer (Shoham, Israel) came in first place in 2:10.71, while Megan Wolters (Cleveland, Miss.) was first in the 100 back in 1:00.09. Maggie Warren (Lakeville, Mass.) was third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:13.69. Shpaizer was second in the 100 butterfly in 59.57 and third in the 200 back. Wolters won her second event of the day in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.32, which was followed by a win in the 200 back in 2:07.05. Heather Griffin (Presque Isle, Maine) clocked a time of 57.12 for second place in the 100 free. In the 200 breaststroke, Kiki O'Donnell (Hampden, Maine) was second in 2:35.44. In diving, Shannon Scott (Cumberland, Maine) was fourth in the three meter and Jessica Pratt (Eddington, Maine) was third in the one meter.

In the men's meet, Mike Goede (Omaha, Neb.) was second in the 100 back in 57.75 and won the 50 free in 23.34. In the 100 breast, Zach Weinman (Bethleham, Pa.) was third in 1:05.37. Andy Magiera (Surry, Maine) was third in the 100 butterfly at 56.02 and third in the 200 butterfly at 2:04.35. In diving, Chris Rodway (Brewer, Maine) finished third in the three meter and second in the one meter events.

 

 

The swimmers of the meet for the Black Bears were Brianna Tibbetts for the women and Brock Libby for the men. Jessica Pratt was the diver of the meet.
