Men's Soccer Falls to Vermont 2-0

ORONO, Maine-- The University of Maine men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Vermont on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field in Orono,. Maine. Maine falls to 3-11-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in conference play, while Vermont improves to 5-9-2 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play. It is the first time that Maine has been beaten at home on the season. After a scoreless first half, Vermont struck first when Justin Geibel found Lee Stephan Kouadio. Kouadio made a move around UMaine keeper Nemanja Kostic (New Belgrade, Serbia) who fell on the play and kicked the ball into the open goal at 62:34. Vermont added to its lead at 82:33. Tyler Hasman passed to Loren Hill on an odd-man rush and Hill had his shot beat Kostic.. Vermont had a slim 11-9 advantage in shots. Kostic made four saves in the game and falls to 3-10-1 on the season. Vermont keeper Roger Scully made three saves in the game for the Catamounts. The Black Bears return to action on Saturday, Oct. 27 when they host Stony Brook in the final home game of the regular season starting at 1 p.m. Before the game, Maine will honor its seven seniors. -U-M-
