Position:
Defensive Assistant

Former Black Bear great Jermaine Walker (Maine `06) enters his second season on the Maine staff in 2008 as a defensive assistant coach. He will help in working with the linebackers again in 2008.

In 2007, Walker worked with defensive coordinator Robb Smith as he assisted in coaching the linebackers. Walker helped mentor linebacker Andrew Downey, who went on to earn Second-Team All-CAA honors.

A two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, Walker earned first-team honors as a senior in 2005. He served as captain of the team that season and helped the Black Bears rally for a three-game winning streak late in the campaign. Walker also led the team in tackles in 2005 with 114, thus becoming just the third player in program history this decade to top the century mark for stops in a season. He had a memorable performance versus Nebraska with a team-high 14 tackles.

Walker graduated from Maine in 2006 with a degree in child development. He is currently pursuing his masters in special education. He resides in Orono.
