Men's Basketball Drops Tough Decision to Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Florida- The men's basketball team lost to the Atlantic Coast Conference's Florida State Seminoles 95-55 on Satuday night. Maine fell to 4-5, while Florida State improved to 9-2. Isaiah Swann (Germantown, Maryland) led Florida State with 22 points and six assists. Brian Andre continued to shoot the ball well, going 6-for-11 from the field, to finish with 13 points, and added six rebounds.

The Black Bears were led in the first half by Troy Barnies (Auburn, Maine) and Brian Andre (Bingham, Maine), who each had six points and three rebounds. Jordan Cook (Hampden, Maine) pitched in with four points, two rebounds and a steal. Maine struggled from the field, shooting 33 percent, while Florida State shot 50 percent. For the half, Maine out-rebounded Florida State 18-to-17. Maine also played well in the paint, equaling the Seminoles' 14 points in the area. Maine went into the lockerroom down 42-20.

The Black Bears played hard in the second half, but the Seminoles' three point shooting was too much for Maine to overcome. Florida State had 11 three-pointers in the second half to finish with 20 for the game. Maine shot the ball well in the second half, shooting 42 percent, but could not close the gap after halftime. Andre had two powerful dunks that stunned the Seminole crowd in the second half, but it was not enough for America East's youngest team.

Florida State shot 52 percent from the field on 34-for-66 shooting. Maine wound up shooting 38 percent from the field on 23-for-61 shooting. For the game, Maine was out-rebounded 44-to-32.
