Final Stats

11.3.07 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla- The Mid-America Christian University Evangels won big in their season opener against the Central Baptist College Mustangs Saturday Nov 3. MACU cruised past CBC 97-73.

"I thought we started the season off well," Head Coach Willie Holley said. "The scoring was very balanced and I think that will be how our team scores all year."

MACU controlled CBC from the beginning and never trailed throughout the game. MACU took a 47-29 halftime lead, which was more than enough for the Evangels.

The Mustangs made a run in the second half, but the Evangels held on and stretched the lead back to twenty points.

The MACU bench came up big for the Evangels scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

"The bench will be one of our main weapons this year," Coach Holley said.

The Evangels shot 50% from beyond the arc and held CBC to just 26% from the 3-point line.

Clint Nixon contributed a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists. Joe Brown scored a game high 27 points, while Stevan Thomas had 17 points. Tracy Wilkins had 15 points and five assists.

The Evangels improve to 1-0 on the season.

MACU will host Bethany College Tuesday, Nov 6 at 7:30 p.m.
