Rambler Women Wrap Up Day One At Hawkeye Intercollegiate
Sept. 9, 2006 IOWA CITY, Iowa - Led by the play of freshman Lucy McGovern (87-77=164), Loyola University Chicago's women's golf team wrapped up 36 holes of play, and day one, in seventh place at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate at Finkbine Golf Course today. The Ramblers posted a 672 (347-325) through two rounds and are within striking distance of sixth-place Northern Illinois (337-328=665). Iowa notched a 610 (306-304) in the opening two rounds to take a commanding 19-stroke lead over Missouri State (314-315=629) with 18 holes left to play. McGovern's second-round, five-over-par 77 was the best score of the day by a Rambler, and helped the rookie to an 18th-place showing through 36 holes of action. Junior Michelle Puch posted a 165 (86-79) to tie for 19th, and was the only other Rambler to break 80 today. Sophomore Kaitlin Kearney shot a 171 (87-84), while senior Rachel Sinnen added a 172 (87-85) and freshman Megan Sujack, making her Loyola debut, carded a 187 (92-95) to round out the Loyola lineup.
