Loyola Names Glamora Maeweather Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

July 17, 2007

CHICAGO - The Loyola University women's basketball team and head coach Shannon Reidy have announced the hiring of Glamora Maeweather as an assistant coach this afternoon. Maeweather, who originally hails from the Chicagoland area, will be responsible for overseeing academic progress and player community service, assisting with summer camps and Loyola's high school shootout and scouting and film exchange in addition to assisting with post player development and recruiting.

"I am excited to have a southside product on our staff who exudes so much energy and enthusiasm for the game," said Reidy. "Coach G brings her junior college experience and southside ties to our program which will only open up opportunities for us in the recruiting sector. She is very excited to be back home here in Chicago and connect the Loyola community and Chicagoland student-athletes with our program."

Maeweather returns to the Windy City after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Independence Community College in Kansas, where she worked, primarily, with the program's interior players. She began her coaching career after a stellar playing career at UMass, where she was a four-year letterwinner and a Dean's List student. Prior to making the trek out East, Maeweather was a high school standout at south suburban Rich Central.

"She has extensive ties to high school and AAU coaches in the area and is extremely motivated to make an impact on the Loyola program," continued Reidy. "Glamora is an outstanding communicator with our current players and anxious to make the same impact on our recruiting classes. Her drive, tireless work ethic and passion will be a positive influence on the program."
