Men’s Volleyball Defeats Lindenwood in Three

Scott Greene ties his career-high 14 kills
Box ScoreChicago, Ill. (January 16, 2005) – The men’s volleyball team had another win this afternoon over Lindenwood University, taking the match in three games (30-19, 30-19, 30-23). The Ramblers are now 2-0 in non-conference play.
For the second match in a row, senior Scott Greene led the team and tied his career-high of 14 kills while also leading the team with 7 digs. Behind Greene, junior Chris Nelson posted a career-high 10 kills, 5 assists, 3 ace serves and 4 blocks. Hitting at .800 was junior Corey Kloos recording 8 kills in the win over the Lions. As a team the Ramblers hit .385 compared to the Lions .080.
Sophomore Brian Guntli had a team-high 26 assists and second in digs with six. Loyola recorded 31 digs to Lindenwood’s 16.
The Ramblers got out to early leads in the first two games and the Lions were unable to catch up. As a team Loyola hit .478 in game one as Greene, Kloos and Nelson hit nearly perfect.
In the final game, the Lions went into the early lead, 6-5 before Kozlarek’s two service aces and a Kloos kill turned the game around for the Loyola lead. The Ramblers would lead until the end for the win.
The Ramblers will be home again this Thursday, January 20 against Carthage at 7:00 p.m.
