CHICAGO (SEPTEMBER 24, 2004) – Visiting Wright State (4-3-0, 1-0-0 Horizon) scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute and went on to beat Loyola (1-6-1, 0-2-0) tonight, 2-1, at Loyola Soccer Park.
The Raiders opened the scoring in the 14th minute when sniper Ricky Strong netted his sixth goal of the season to give Wright State a 1-0 lead. The teams remained even until midway through the second half when a Rambler foul in the box resulted in a penalty, and Jason Tackis made no mistake from the spot to give the Raiders the lead and the win.
The shots were fairly even, with Wright State enjoying an 8-7 edge, but the Ramblers enjoyed a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Ramblers return to action on Wed., Sept. 29 when they host intra-city rival Illinois-Chicago. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Loyola Soccer Park.
