Loyola Men's Golf Signs Erik Hoops

Nov. 30, 2007

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago men's golf coach Adam Kwiatkoski announced today the signing of Erik Hoops to a National Letter of Intent. Hoops, who attends Perrysburg High School in Perrysburg, Ohio, is a four-time all-league and all-district performer on the course and will be eligible to compete for the Ramblers next fall.

The four-time letterwinner and team captain won the sectional championship in 2007 with a one-under-par 71 and was also a sectional champion as a freshman in 2004. Hoops won the 2007 Toledo Junior Championship with a 142 (74-68), and has also recorded wins on the Powerbilt Tour and the Big "I" Qualifier.

In addition to being named Perrysburg High School's winner of the prestigious Wendy's High School Heisman Award, Hoops placed fourth at the Ohio State Junior Championship with 71-75 and made three AJGA appearances in 2007, highlighted by a top-20 finish at the Midwest Junior Players Championship.

Loyola finished fourth, a mere four strokes out of second place, at the Horizon League Championships a year ago and earned three top-three team showings during the 2007 fall campaign.
