Keith Nelson Leads Loyola at Ironhorse Intercollegiate

Tuscola, Ill. (October 12, 2004) Keith Nelson carded a three-round score of 225 (70-75-80) to finish tied for sixth overall as Loyola University Chicago placed eighth at the nine-team Ironhorse Intercollegiate, which concluded today. DePaul rolled to the title with a score of 897 while the Ramblers posted a 942, only four strokes behind seventh-place Dayton.
Loyola dug itself too deep of a hole in the opening round of play, earning a team score of 318, before rebounding nicely with a 308, the fourth lowest score of the second round.
Nelsons opening-round, two-under-par 70 was his best score of the fall. Frank Linquist was the only other Rambler to place in the top 25, tying for 25th with a 233 (76-80-77). Freshman Craig Cornwall, making his first appearance of the year but not in the lineup, also tied for 25th (73-83-77). Rounding out the Loyola lineup was Aaron Harter in 34th place with a 239 (82-76-81), Dan Mattingly in 54th with a 250 (91-77-82) and John Caponigro in 57th with a 258 (90-90-78).
The Ramblers are off until the spring season begins in March.
