Ramblers' Men's Golf Team Tied For Sixth After Round One Of John Piper Intercollegiate

Sept. 18, 2006

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Inclement weather wasn't enough to deter Loyola University Chicago's men's golf team from a strong start at the John Piper Intercollegiate today at Stone Ridge Golf Club. The Ramblers posted a team score of 305 to tie with Horizon League foe Detroit and Cincinnati for sixth place, just seven strokes behind leader Eastern Kentucky. Rain shortened today's action from 36 to 18 holes of competition.

Freshman Peter Tomkie posted Loyola's low score of the day, as he brought a two-over-par 74 into the clubhouse after one round to tie for 11th place. Fellow freshman Thomas Greene and sophomore Sean Bidzinski, the 2006 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year, each carded a 76, while senior Frank Linquist and sophomore Armando Favela fired a 79 apiece.
