Loyola Wraps Up Day One of First Annual Rambler Invitational in Fourth Place

CHICAGO (April 11, 2005) – Led by sophomore Sarah Van Vooren’s opening-round 79, Loyola University Chicago wrapped up day one of the First Annual Rambler Invitational in fourth place following 18 holes of competition at Winnetka Golf Club. The Ramblers carded a team score of 325 and trail first-place Oakland by 16 strokes.
In addition to Van Vooren’s impressive round at the par-71, 5,830-yard course, a trio of Ramblers notched scores of 82 today – Marissa Capriola, Michelle Puch and Rachael Sinnen. Michelle Puch finished the opening round with an 85.
The Ramblers’ Maroon squad sits in ninth place after one round with a score of 377. Leading the way for Loyola’s Maroon team was Katelyn Gibbons with a score of 86.
Patricia Ellsworth of Oakland turned in the top score of the day, firing a three-over-par 74 to help the Golden Grizzlies to a team score of 309.
The final round of play begins tomorrow at 10 a.m.
