Armando Favela placed tied for fifth at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate
 
 
Loyola Men Capture Fourth Place At Hawkeye Intercollegiate

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Playing in its first competition of the fall season, Loyola University Chicago's men's golf team placed fourth at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate, which concluded today at Finkbine Golf Course. The Ramblers, who were playing with three freshmen in their lineup, registered a score of 896, just 13 strokes behind champion, Western Illinois (883).

Sophomore Armando Favela tied for fifth overall with a 54-hole score of 218 (72-69-77). Senior Frank Linquist tied for 32nd with a 232 (76-75-81) and that highly regarded rookie class performed admirably in its first collegiate action. Thomas Greene tallied a 224 (78-71-75) to tie for 16th, Peter Tomkie notched a 227 (80-73-74), including a final-round, team-best score of 74, to tie for 21st and Robert Caplin notched a 233 (77-77-79) to tie for 37th.

Loyola hits the course again next week at the John Pieper Invitational hosted by Bowling Green, Sept. 18-19.
