Freshman Thomas Greene fired a two-under-par 70 as Loyola wrapped up a second-place finish at the Wiscon Corporation Invitational at Pine Meadow Golf Club in Mundelein, Ill. Despite posting its highest team total of the 54-hole event, Loyola (889 total) was able to easily take second in the ten team field, finishing 16 strokes behind champion Western Illinois (873) and nine strokes ahead of third place Creighton (898). The Bluejays' John Sutko fired his second consecutive under-par round (70) to take home medalist honors.

Greene's 70 gave him a three-round total of 218 (72-76-70), which was good for a tie for fourth place individually. Sophomore Armando Favela (71-75-78) and senior Frank Linquist (74-71-79) each tied for ninth at 224, one stroke better than Peter Tomkie, who fired a 70 in yesterday's second round. Sophomore Sean Bidzinski carded his third consecutive round of 77 to finish in a tie for 24th at 231.

The Loyola Gold team also enjoyed some solid performances today, led by a 77 from freshman Robert Caplin. The round gave Caplin a total of 234 for the week, which tied him with senior Michael Wieland, who carded a final-round 78 this afternoon. John Caponigro and Sean Lannon each posted 80s today, to finish with totals of 243 and 247, respectively. Junior Aaron Harter, who posted a first-round 76, closed with an 86 to finish at 245 total.

Sutko's 70 capped a steady performance that saw him finish the tournament at one-under par, one stroke better than DePaul's Cory Blemkush and two ahead of Western Illinois' Tim Streng.

Loyola has two weeks to prepare for the 2007 Horizon League Championship, which will be contested April 30-May 1 in Lebanon, Ohio.
