Raymond and Romanoski Earn First-Team All-Horizon League Recognition

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago cross country program received six All-Horizon League awards, the League office announced. Sophomore Ashley Raymond and senior Sam Romanoski earned first-team honors after being Loyola's top finisher in all six meets this season. Three Loyola women, Amanda Domich, Maureeca Lambert and Jessie Morgenthal, were named to the second team while Andrew Sbertoli earned second-team honors on the men's side.

Romanoski, a senior from Lake Zurich, enjoys his second season on the first team after leading Loyola in all six meets. Romanoski finished the 8K course at the Horizon League Championships in 25:07 to lead Loyola to a second-place tie with Illinois-Chicago. Sbertoli, a native of Wood Dale, Ill., earned his third-career Second-Team All-Horizon League award after registering a top-10 finish in 26:11.90 for ninth place

Raymond earned her first-career First-Team All-League honor after leading the Ramblers to sole possession of second-place at the Horizon League Championships. Raymond finished fifth in the individual standings with a time of 18:22 as Loyola's highest finisher for the sixth straight meet. Domich earned the third second-team honor of her career, following in eighth (18:36.80) while Lambert earned her third-career honor as well in 11th (18:51.60). Morgenthal, last season's Horizon League Newcomer of the Year, earned her second second-team award after placing 14th (19:17.20) .

Loyola competes at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet at 11 a.m. at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis. The women's 6K race will be followed by the men's 10K race at 12:15 p.m. Spectator information as well as other items can be found on the official NCAA Midwest Region Championship website at www.gophersports.com.
