Ben Reifenberg Named Horizon League Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Sept. 18, 2007

Freshman Ben Reifenberg earned the Horizon League's Cross Country Athlete of the Week accolades along with Valparaiso's Laura Rolf, it was announced today by the League office. Reifenberg garnered the honor after his performance last week at the Illinois Intercollegiate. The Fort Wayne, Ind., native ran the 8K race with a time of 25:52.57 to place 30th overall, helping the Rambler men to an eighth-place finish out of 22 schools.

A graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School, Reifenberg earned a trio of all-state honors in track and field in the 4x800m relay in 2005 and the 4x800m and 4x1,600m relays in 2006 and 4x1,600m relay in 2007. He helped lead the Saints to the conference championships in 2005 and 2006, while posting a pair personal-best efforts in the 5k (15:35) and in the 800m (1:55).

Reifenberg and the rest of the Rambler squad will return to action on Saturday, September 29 at Montrose Beach, when Loyola hosts the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational. The meet is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
