Loyola Cross Country Competes Well Saturday At Illinois

Illinois "Pack It Up" Challenge Women's Results
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Loyola University Chicago cross country team competed at the Pack It Up Challenge, held Saturday morning at the University of Illinois' Arboretum in Champaign. The Rambler women placed second in the meet, scoring 44 points and the men's team finished third in the team standings with 72 points. Illinois wound up capturing first place honors in both men's and women's races. Freshman Ashley Raymond was the top runner for Loyola women, taking sixth place at a time of 18:39.71. Junior Amanda Domich (18:41.42) and freshman Jessie Morgenthal (18:41.98) finished in seventh and eighth, respectively. Freshman Mary Bridget Corken took 11th place with time of 18:53.87, while sophomore Rachel Hansen finished 12th at a time of 18:59.14. Freshman Genevieve Binnie captured 16th place with a time of 19:30.39 with fellow classmates Gada Quafisheh taking a 17th-place finish at a time of 19:31.81 and Caitlin Smith earning a 23rd-place finish with a time of 21:54.21. On the men's side, senior Eduardo Borjon paced LU with a time 27:09.40, good for a 13th-place showing. Sophomore Joe Mahalick finished 16th with a time of 27:47.52 and senior Chris Morris took 17th at a time of 28:03.36. Also scoring for the Ramblers were sophomores Cliff Cook (19th - 28:25.59) and Dan Bird (23rd - 29:35.84). LU faces its first true test of the cross country season at the Roy Griak Invitational, held at the University of Minnesota on Sept. 24. |
