July 12, 2006

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago's men's and women's cross country/track and field teams have been named U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams it was announced today. Those teams named to the list had cumulative grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher. Loyola's men's team compiled a cumulative 3.0 GPA, while the women's squad posted a 3.20 GPA.

"Coach Moss and I are very proud of Marcia and the entire men's and women's team for achieving this great honor," Loyola head coach Marc Burns said. "It shows how dedicated our student-athletes are to their academic careers as well as their athletic careers. We hope to continue this level of performance in the classroom for years to come."

Junior Marcia Faustin was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as well. To qualify for the All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and must have met the NCAA Division I regional or national qualifying standard in her event.

Faustin qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional in the high jump and captured the Horizon League title in that event at both the indoor and outdoor championships. The junior set a school record with a leap of 5-08.75 at the Billy Hayes Invitational.
