Track Teams Set 12 New Personal Bests Over the Weekend

2/19/2005

Both teams ready for the HL Championships

Chicago, Ill. (February 19, 2005) – The men’s and women’s track team competed in the UW-Milwaukee Triangular this weekend before they head off to the Horizon League Championships next weekend. Overall 12 new personal bests were set.

Winning the women’s high jump was Marcia Faustin with a mark of 1.62m and winner of the men’s 3,000m run was Sam Romanoski as he clocked in a new personal best of 8:29.16.

Placing themselves on ninth all-time list for Loyola were Anna Hinterschied in the one mile run (5:02.07) and Maureeca Lambert in the 1,000m (3:00.99). Two new personal bests were set in the 60m dash by Gary Gentry (7.25) and Tony Mask (7.28).

"This meet was a perfect tune-up for the Horizon League Championships next weekend. The team is fresh and ready to attack the championships. We had some great performances and if we can compete with the same enthusiasm and heart next week, we will put ourselves in a great position," stated head coach Marc Burns.

The Horizon League Indoor Championships are Feb. 26-27 and will run all day.
