Faustin and Taylor Capture First-Place Finishes At Old Fashion Track Meet For Loyola

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago Track and Field garnered several top-five finishes as it competed at the Old Fashion Track Meet, hosted by North Central College in Naperville, on April 26. There were no team scores recorded for the meet, but the Ramblers turned in some good performances as they prepare for the Horizon League Championships next month.

Junior Marcia Faustin (Orland Park, Ill.) posted her fourth victory in the high jump this season with mark of 5-05.75, while freshman Rebecca Taylor (Brown Deer, Wis.) captured her first collegiate event title in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.02. Freshman Caitlin Smith (Lakewood, Ohio) finished second in the 800m with a time of 2:27.69 and junior Kristin Schwarz (Villa Park, Ill.) placed fifth in the event at a time of 2:34.95. Freshman Gada Qafisheh's (Prospect Heights, Ill.) time of 5:02.81 gave her second place in the 1,500m and freshman Jennifer Little (Indianapolis, Ind.) was second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:13.54. Senior Inshirah Grimes (Shaker Heights, Ohio) posted a pair of top-five finishes after placing third in the high jump (4-09.75) and taking fourth in the shot put (39-10.50). Fellow senior Larissa Gest (Shorewood, Wis.) rounded out the LU women's slate with a third-place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 34-02.25.

On the men's side, senior Eduardo Borjon (Woodridge, Ill.) led the Maroon and Gold with a second-place finish in the 1,500m with a time of 4:02.90. Fellow classmate Sean Conroy (Cork, Ireland) placed third in the 5,000m at a time of 15:47.40 and freshman Mike Laabs (Franklin, Wis.) captured fourth place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.16.
