Men's 4x400-meter Relay Takes Second Place at Carolina Fast Times

CHICAGO - The Loyola University of Chicago track and field program's weekend of competition was highlighted by a 3:18.12 effort by the men's 4x400-meter relay of Jimel Denham, Tom Andreoni, Ricky Headrick and Donte Prisby that earned second place at the Carolina Fast Times Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Saturday.

The Ramblers continued the impressive effort in the sprints, with Denham finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash with a 21.75 effort in addition to an 11th-place finish in the 100-meter dash (10.99).

Jamar Johnson and Erik Hernandez combined for a trio of sixth-place finishes in the field events. Johnson posted a 42-11.50 mark in the triple jump while Hernandez had a 49-03.50 effort in the shot put and a 145-04 toss in the hammer throw.

Senior distance runner Amanda Domich established a new personal-best-effort in the 10,000-meter run on Sunday at the Mt. Sac Relays in San Antonio, Tex., with a 35:34.10 effort, beating her previous best by 11.9 seconds.

A trio of Loyola women competed in field events on Saturday at the Elmhurst Invitational in Elmhurst, Ill. Briana Kennett finished fourth in the javelin (28.29m) followed by Sara DeMars (28.17). Kennett came in eighth place in the hammer throw with a 33.35-meter effort followed by Leili Khorassani's ninth-place toss of 31.91 meters. The Ramblers earned 18 points to tie for 14th place in the team standings.

Loyola continues its outdoor season on Friday at the Oregon Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
