Loyola Track And Field Completes First Day of Competition at Horizon League Indoor Championships

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago track and field gained a couple of conference titles as it concluded the day one of the 2006 Horizon League Indoor Championships, hosted by Youngstown State and held at the Kent State University Field House in Kent, Ohio. The men's team is currently sitting in third place with 18 points, while the women's team ranks fourth with 19 points.

Senior Robert Wade (Portlaw, Ireland) paced the Rambler men by winning the 5,000-meter run title with a time of 14:44.81. The men's distance medley team of seniors Eduardo Borjon (Woodridge, Ill.), Michael Jagmin (Frankfort, Ill.) and Shawn Lucas (Elgin, Ill.), and junior Brent Cunningham (Oak Lawn, Ill.) finished second with a time of 10:19.17.

On the women's side, the team of senior Anna Hinterschied (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), sophomores Rachel Hansen (Omaha, Neb.) and Christina James (Rockford, Ill.), and freshman Pam Staton (Ingleside, Ill.) captured the distance medley relay title at a season-best time of 12:07.72. Junior Amanda Domich (Algonquin, Ill.) placed fourth in the 5,000m with a time of 18:08.36 and senior Inshirah Grimes (Shaker Heights, Ohio) finished fourth in the women's pentathlon with 3,389 points for Loyola.

The Ramblers head back into competition with Day 2 tomorrow morning, starting at 7:30 a.m.
