Louisville's win is the first MCWS win by a first-time participant since Tulane in 2001.
Louisville's win is the second by a Big East member since the league was formed in 1985, joining Notre Dame, which went 1-2 in 2002.
Louisville becomes the first time a team to reach double figures in its first two MCWS games since Tennessee in 2001. That year, the Vols reached double figures in each of its first three MCWS games - the only time it has happened in MCWS history.

Logan Johnson and Chris Dominguez both have three homers apiece in the MCWS, which is one shy of the MCWS single-series record.
With his win today, Louisville's Justin Marks now has nine runs on the season, a total that ranks fourth on the Cardinals' single-year list.
With 12 runs today, Louisville reached double figures in runs for the 21st time this season and is 19-2 when scoring at least 10 runs. The other time it happened was a 12-10 loss to Rutgers in the Big East Tournament on May 25.
