Lewisburg, Pa. - Seniors Andrea Rovegno and Caroline Scott led the Greyhounds with impressive returns in Loyola's return to the track on Saturday in Lewisburg, Pa. The `Hounds opened the indoor campaign with seniors highlighting the efforts at the Bison Opener.
Rovegno, who last ran at the 2007 Outdoor MAAC Championships, took third in the mile with a time of 5:12.02. She also placed fourth overall in the 800 with a solid season-opening time of 2:26.21.
"It was great to see Andrea [Rovegno] run well today," said Loyola Head Coach Brett Harvey. "I'm encouraged to see where she is this early in the indoor season."
Scott, meanwhile, returned to the Greyhound lineup after a year abroad in Loyola's international study program. She picked up where she left off her sophomore year, setting a school record in the 1,000 with a time of 3:11.2.
"Everyone competed today," added Coach Harvey. "Even our freshmen who did not receive the results they were hoping for - they were aggressive and ran very hard."
The Greyhounds will take a full squad to Princeton next Saturday for the Princeton Invitational at Jadwin Gym.
