Bisons post strong second half effort against WKU

Sept. 23, 2005

Sept. 22, 2005 - The Bisons hit the right goal post twice in the second half, but they couldn't get the ball into the net.

Despite a strong second half effort the Bisons fell 3-0 on the road in Bowling Green at Western Kentucky Thursday night.

Lipscomb midfielders Josh Cline and Michael Spencer each hit the right goal post on shots in the second half.

"For a large portion of the second half we outplayed them," said Lipscomb coach Charles Morrow. "Their coach told us we outplayed and outworked them in the second half. We had better chances. We hit the post twice in the second half and we had three other good chances throughout the game."

Forward Ben Page led the Bisons with three shots, but no shots on goal. Also credited with a shot on goal were midfielder Xander Vooys, forward Jorge Suarez and midfielder Roland Borys.

Western Kentucky scored one goal in the first half and two in the second.

Forward Richard Mupfudze scored the second and third goals for Western Kentucky. The first came on a penalty kick at the 84:04 mark of the game. Forty-seven seconds later Mupfudze struck again with an unassisted goal.

Midfielder Daniel Payne scored the first half goal for Western Kentucky at the 15:22 mark. Mupfudze was credited with the assist.

Mupfudze had seven shots and four shots on goal, both game highs.

The Bisons are 2-3-1. Western Kentucky is 4-2-1.
