Schnelly Throws Complete Game in Bisons Loss

For the second day in a row the Bisons offense could muster only one run against Charleston Southern pitching. With the 5-1 loss on Saturday, April 22, the Bisons' lowered their record to 16-22.

Lipscomb starter Matt Schnelly, pitched a complete game for the Bisons in the loss. In eight innings he gave up five earned runs on nine hits. He struck out seven.

The Bisons struck for their lone run in the sixth inning. Branden Cadavid led off with a single to third base. Allen Bolden followed with a single to center to put runners on first and second. Two outs later, Cadavid scored on an error by the Bucs' third basemen.

The Bisons recorded only six hits against Bucs' starter Ryan Sowers, who lasted 8 2/3 innings to record his fifth win of the season.

Tadd Brewer led the Bisons on offense with two hits. He was the only Bison to record multiple hits in the game.

The loss lowered Schnelly's record to 3-5.

The series will conclude tomorrow with a final game scheduled for 1 p.m. Freshman right-hander Josh Smith is expected to get the start for the Bisons. On the season he is 3-4 with a 5.73 ERA. In 55 innings he has given up 45 runs, 35 earned, on 50 hits. Opponents are batting just .242 against him.
