Coach Fletcher says, "Whit Reed was the starting second basemen last year for us. In the fall he worked at both second and third and he will compete for a starting position in the end. Whit is a very sure handed infielder who can drive the baseball. He is a good representative of Lipscomb University and we are extremely happy to have Whit."

2005: Posted 11 multi-games, all with two hits each. Also had four multi-RBI games, all with two each. Finished the season with an eight-game hitting streak, his longest of the year. Started 51 games at second base. Second on the team in assists with 115. Tied for team high in assists in a game with six vs Mercer (March 25). Tied for team season high with most walks in a game with three vs Tennessee-Martin (April 20). Seven at bats against Troy March 12 was a team season high. Fourth on the team in runs scored with 35... Fourth on the team in hits with 49... Fourth on the team in doubles with 11... Tied for first on the team in triples with 2... Fourth on the team in total bases with 73... Second on the team in walks with 27... Third on the team in total plate appearances with 241... Second on the team in at bats with 208... Fourth on the team in games played with 54... Third on the team in game starts with 53.

JUCO: Transfer from Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Ala., A two-year starter for Wallace State. As a sophomore he batted .275 (28 for 102) with six doubles and 10 runs batted in. He also scored 22 runs. At second base in 39 games he posted a .956 fielding percentage.

High School: Played high school baseball at Guntersville High in Guntersville, Ala. All-county and all-state performer.
