EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Despite a match-high 19 kills by Stephanie Sagat, No. 18 Southern Illinois Edwardsville slipped by Lewis (25-30, 30-20, 30-28, 30-28) Saturday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest. In a gritty defensive match, the Flyers recorded a season-high 14 blocks to SIUE's 13. Sophomore Sara deBuhr led the Flyers with seven blocks (two solo). Freshman Ashlee Lindish recorded a match-high 31 digs. Junior Lauren Hatter and senior Andrea Morrone each recorded 20 digs. Freshman Lauren Seliga registered 17 digs. Morrone also added 39 assists, seven kills and three assisted blocks. Sophomore Kim Richards had 12 kills, six digs, five assisted blocks and four assists. The Flyers out-hit the Cougars .170 to .169 for the match and out-hit them in every game but game two. The Cougars had four players record double-digit kils. SIUE's Mallory Clements notched a triple-double with 45 assists, 25 digs and 11 kills. The Cougars improved to 16-5 (9-2 GLVC) while the Flyers fell to 16-3 (8-2 GLVC). Lewis returns home to face Quincy on Thursday, Missouri-St. Louis on Friday and Missouri-Rolla on Sunday. |
