Women's Basketball to Host FREE Skills Clinic Jan. 29

Jan. 13, 2006

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--The Lewis University women's basketball team will host a FREE clinic for 6th-8th grade girls Sunday, January 29.

The Lil' Flyers Basketball Skills Clinic will be held in Lewis' Neil Carey Arena at the Romeoville campus. The clinic will run from 2-4 p.m. and will include a free pizza party following the clinic.

Participants will work with current Lewis women's basketball players and coaches to improve ball-handling, shooting and defensive techniques. Fun games and competitions will also be included.

In addition, all participants will receive a free admission pass to all remaining Flyers women's basketball home games.

Contact assistant basketball coach Dawn Erickson to R.S.V.P. or if you have any questions. Coach Erickson can be reached at 815-836-5652 or via e-mail: ericksdn@lewisu.edu.

Lewis' women's basketball team finished 19-11 in 2004-05 and qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament. Three all-conference players from last year's squad return, including preseason All-American junior Mary Moskal.

The team is lead by head coach Lynn Plett, who is in his fourth season. Plett's teams have improved their record substantially in each of his first three seasons.
